Big Changes...

Last weekend, we started the many transitions that will come for Tommy and Ryn in the next few months.  Unfortunately, it kind of snowballed and we pretty much did all the transitions at once except for the actual baby arriving.  Tommy's new bed arrived which is so cool and I can't wait to get pictures up for everyone to see.  The plan was to set the bed up in his "new room" and let him get used to the idea before we moved all his stuff in there.  But, right away, he wanted to sleep in his new bed, so we figured that was a good sign.  Ryn, however was...well...let's say, feeling left out.  She wanted to sleep in a new bed too.  Tom casually asked her if she wanted to sleep in Tommy's old bed (her new bed) that night, to which she enthusiastically replied, "YES!"  Then the real shocker came when Tom told her that if she slept in the big girl bed, she had to leave her pacis in her crib, to which she responded, "okay."  Amazing.  We hardly slept that night waiting for the middle of the night cries or any number of things that could have gone wrong, but to our complete shock, both kids went to bed without a peep and woke up at 7 as usual.  Hooray for Tommy and Ryn!

Then, things got interesting.  I took Ryn and Tommy the next morning to Build-a-bear so Ryn could put her pacis inside a special new bear that she would make.  And of course Tommy got to make a special bear for sleeping in his new room.  Ryn packed her pacis in her purse and off to the mall we went.  She totally got the idea and was very proud of her appropriately named, "Princess Paci Bunny".  Pictures coming soon.  Tommy made "Spider Man Bear" and is very proud of his new friend.  However, when naptime came around, Ryn wanted to be in her crib with her pacis.  But they were forever in the heart of Princess Paci Bunny, so she knew that wasn't an option.  So she cried...and cried...and cried, until finally she calmed down enough to fall asleep.  Tommy and Ryn both have had a really hard week and I chalk it up to all the transition.  We are exhausted and very tired of Ryn's emotional melt downs and Tommy's arguing every word.  The past day or so, they have seemed to pull out of their funk and thankfully it was just in time for Tom to go out of town.  Ryn isn't quite as emotional for bedtime, but there is still some crying.  I think we made it through the hard part...well, until September!

Tommy is very interested in "Baby Grace" (no middle name yet) and is determined to figure out how that baby is going to get out of my belly.  I keep telling him that God helps the Doctors get her out, but he is not buying that anymore.  He told me the other day...and I quote, "Mommy, when you go to the hospital to have baby Grace, you need to see how the doctors get her out and then tell me all about it".  To which I could only reply, "okay Tommy".  Ryn is pretty into Baby Grace too and tells people all the time that I have "baby Dace" in my tummy and would prefer to show my stomach to everyone rather than hiding it under these clothes.  I think she will really love having a baby sister even though it might be hard on her at first.

We are so glad summer is here so we can enjoy the pool, sprinklers and the newest addition...the SLIP N SLIDE!  Such big fun.  Again, pictures coming soon...I am paralyzed with Tom's computer out of town.  Yay for summer!
